Science was a subject most people despised taking in school because they just didn't care to dissect a frog or learn about the periodic table of elements. They would rather spend the time they were required to be in school and away from their Oakville condos not playing video games learning about subjects that would help them with whatever their career plans were or what were the easiest to learn.
If we were to test you right now on your basic high school chemistry knowledge do you think you'd pass? Quick, how many elements are there in the periodic table of elements? If you guessed 101 you'd be wrong. The right answer is 118. Luckily for you we're not going to keep the quiz going and ask you to name each and every one of the 118 elements that make up the periodic table of elements.
That would take way too long and we wouldn't want to embarrass/anger you while perusing our website. What we can do is highlight some of the lesser-known periodic elements that will hopefully jog your memory and bring you back to your high school chemistry class days. The first couple of periodic elements we want to briefly touch upon are Br and Ba.
Br, the 35th element in the periodic table of elements is the bromine element and is a nonmetal and halogen, is red-ish/brown-ish in color, its atomic weight is 79.904, it comes in a liquid state and can be found in pesticides, water purification compounds, and dyestuffs. Ba, element number 56, stands for barium and it's classified as solid alkali earth metal that's silvery white in color, has an atomic weight of 137.33, and can be commonly found in sparkplug wires or vacuum tubes.
If you're wondering why we singled out the Br and Ba elements first it's because of the popularity of the hit AMC TV show Breaking Bad. If you're a fan of the show you know how much chemistry plays an important part in the show and how the graphics of the program use the periodic elements, such as Br and Ba, whenever possible. Now that we got that out of the way lets talk about the chemical element known as xenon, which is the atomic number 54 in the periodic table of elements.
The xenon element's classification is also nonmetal, as well as noble gas, is colorless, and has an atomic weight of 131.29. We were so enamored by the xenon element, which is considered to be a very rare odorless heavy gas discovered by William Ramsay in 1898 that we decided to name our website after it. If you want to know more about xenon then we can help you out on that front. The word xenon comes from the Greek word "xenos" and means stranger. Xenon was discovered in residue that remained after liquid air was fractionally distilled and that led to its presence as a new element. Uses of xenon include radiation detection instruments such as x-ray counters and as a general anesthetic in medicine.
Now that we've highlighted what xenon is and have you thinking about the periodic table of elements while forgetting about the websites of real estate agents in Oakville you came online for in the first place feel free to browse the rest of our site to learn more about chemistry and other elements!
